For Caroline's sixth birthday, she decided she wanted an American Girl doll. Well, if you are a mom of girls, you are aware of these very expensive, but oh, so treasured little confections of silky hair, moveable arms, and tailored outfits. Grandmama decided that this would be her one and only gift to Caroline for her birthday and we made a day of driving up to the store in Atlanta with Madison Stanford, having lunch, and selecting the perfect American Girl doll. You can go two ways when shopping for an AG. You can select one of the "character" dolls - these portray different eras in American history and come with junior novels that tell the AG's story in the context of that particular historical period (yes, yes, yes, the educational value here is not lost on me in spite of the outrageous price tag). The other option you have is to select a doll who looks like your twin. Caroline wanted one that looked just like her. So, after selecting the new doll, Caroline had to receive special hair and clothing care instructions from a staff member and adopt her new friend. She promptly named her Lexi Ruth. We took Lexi Ruth to lunch at Subway in the mall food court and then rode the carousel and train before trekking back to McDonough. The girls had a great time and we thank Grandmama for the financial sacrifice!

"Woody: You're a toy! You aren't the real Buzz Lightyear!
You're.. you're an action figure! You are a child's plaything.
Buzz Lightyear: You are a sad, strange little man, and you have my pity. Farewell."
